Under certain circumstances, we can cover the costs for professional training – even if you are currently employed. You may be given time off from work for your training. In addition, your employer can apply for financial compensation for your time off. As a rule, you can also complete training while claiming short-term allowance.

Want to do some professional training and have an idea of what you want to achieve? The Hamburg-based WISY course portal includes around 30,000 courses from over 1,000 education institutes in the Hamburg region that we will provide funding for under certain circumstances.

Get the skills you need in no time at all

Do you need a forklift licence or a proficiency test as per Section 34a of the German Industrial Code [Gewerbeordnung, GewO] in order to start a new job?

We can help you acquire the necessary skills.

Obtain the required skills either directly through one of our courses purchased for this purpose or, alternatively, look for accredited training offered by a provider of your choice with a registration and placement voucher.

Which criteria need to be satisfied?

The course must significantly improve your chances of joining the workforce. Get in touch with your personal case manager in our Placement Services department to find out your individual requirements.

How can I get advice?

If you have any questions or would like to receive advice, please contact your personal case manager at the Jobcenter employment service.

This grant constitutes a discretionary payment, meaning you are not legally entitled to receive it.

Financing your professional development

Use the opportunity to complete professional training and take your career to the next level. We’ll help you achieve your goals!

There are a number of options available if you want to do training:

• resitting your school-leaving certificate if you never obtained one;
• learning a new trade through retraining;
• updating prior knowledge to cover technical advancement or;
• expanding previously obtained professional expertise.

If you meet the corresponding requirements, we may be able to finance your training by covering the costs, meaning you can benefit from free training.

Which criteria need to be satisfied?

Do you require an education voucher? Please contact your case manager at the Jobcenter employment service to receive your voucher.

You can receive an education voucher:

• to end your unemployment;
• to prevent impending unemployment or;
• to resit your school-leaving or professional qualification.

In addition, important basic skills such as reading, writing and maths may be required to participate in a certificate-based qualification.

The education voucher must be applied for before the course begins.
