Helping people help themselves

Citizen´s income (Bürgergeld) is a state-funded social benefit that secures the basic financial needs and consequently the sustenance of people without adequate funds.

We provide help in the form of:

  • advice and service to help people find a job or apprenticeship, and to
  • make sure people have the means to live.

Hand in hand

We also help interested employers find staff through our joint employer service. We offer industry-specific advice and financial aid options.

Under one roof

Together with our partners, we offer our customers advice geared towards certain target groups and topics.

Jobcenter, the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg and the Hamburg Employment Agency have teamed up to form the Hamburg Youth Employment Agency (YEA) with the aim of helping young people enter the professional world. Questions from young people up to the age of 25 related to education, work and studying – along with everything these topics entail – are answered at the agency’s seven locations. The YEA also provides assistance and guidance for personal and family issues that prevent certain young people from entering the professional world.

At the Hamburg Welcome Center (HWC), the Social Security Office, the Office for Internal Affairs and Sport, the Hamburg Employment Agency and Jobcenter t.a.h work together under one roof covering various legal aspects to help immigrants integrate into the skilled labour market and advise employers in need of skilled labour.

The House for Health and Work (HHW) is a model initiative launched as part of the federal programme rehapro, funded by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. Nine partners in total collaborate at the HHW under the helm of Jobcenter ARINET, the Hamburg Employment Agency, Berufliche Trainingszentrum Hamburg GmbH, Deutsche Rentenversicherung Bund, Deutsche Rentenversicherung Nord, hamburger arbeit, the Social Security Office and the University of Lübeck. The HHW uses its pooled expertise to support and advise people affected by health issues, particularly mental illness, on how to return to work or solve issued faced at the workplace.
